Birthday Parties

Host a child's party at the Museum and it will be remembered for years to come. Picture them on the train, journeying underground - who's excited, who's holding their friend's hand because it's dark and who'll shriek the loudest?  In addition to the guided Underground Adventure, they'll pan for REAL gold too.  After a quick lesson from the Tour Guide, they'll be finding gold...pyrite...sodalite...and more - this is always a favourite with kids.

Bring your cake and party food too.  We have a picnic spot or an indoor area where they can eat.  Then, before you leave, be sure to get a group photo by our 235-ton Super Truck, and see how they measure up against the giant tires. Our Gift Shop can make up party grab bags for you for whatever price you'd like to spend.

Post-secondary Groups

With our feet firmly in the realms of social history, natural resources and environmental sustainability, we get regular visits from university and college classes.

As Britannia Beach is a former industrial site, with a successful and ongoing environmental reclamation project, a visit here can help focus the minds of your students by giving them direct experience with a local, authentic resource.  The Environmental Discovery Centre Tour and the Walking Tunnel Double Tour are proving particularly popular with post-secondary groups, as they illustrate a very real problem and demonstrate an amazingly effective solution.

If you have specific needs for your group, please contact us, as we will be happy to tailor your tour where we can.  On our Museum site, we have one of our historic buildings converted into a classroom (with TV, VHS and DVD) that can be made available at no extra cost for lunch, meetings or presentations.

Corporate Groups

We cater for corporate groups interested in hosting events such as a staff day out, conference field trip, or fact-finding trip. An Underground Adventure tour is a great way to encourage social interaction, gold panning always gets a hint of competition going, and if you want a group photo, there's no better place than against our 235-ton Super-Truck with its giant tires.

In addition to our guided tours, there is our Gift Shop for a bit of retail therapy, and we have space available for meetings and/or refreshments.  We can tailor your visit to suit your needs, so please call our Visitor Services Manager, Carol Watts on 1-800-896-4044 ext. 225 to discuss your requirements. And if you're bringing your group from the Lower Mainland, make a day of it and visit nearby Shannon Falls and the Squamish Chief before you head back.

Seniors

A visit to the Museum for a group of seniors invariably leads to reminiscence and laughter and we know from experience just how much they like to have fun with their Tour Guide!  Much of the Britannia Story relates to the early to mid 20th century, so many of our visitors can connect directly with it, as the social history is just as important to us as the mining history.  And our Tour Guides love to listen just as much as they love to talk, so it's not uncommon for them to pick up a few new stories on a tour.

When a tour group of seniors comes to visit us, it can be the case that not all of them will go on the tour.  There is a climb of 65 steps to reach the tunnel entrance and Mining House displays. Although our site is mostly level, it is not paved.  So for those who choose not to do the bulk of the tour, there is the Gift Shop to browse and we can also make our classroom space or our picnic spot available in better weather.

Community Groups & Day Camps

Looking for a great day trip? Come and spend some time at the Museum. As we are a non-profit organization, we understand how important it is to look after the pennies, so we strive to keep our admission rates as low as possible.  And with discounted rates for groups of 15 or more, and more savings on the Double Tour, you can be sure that you'll be getting good value for money.

An Underground Adventure Tour is great for social interaction. Throughout the multi-sensory, dynamic tour, there are times for laughter, competition, interactivity, reflection and sharing. Make for a memorable group experience by stepping inside the monumental Mill 3, or take your group photo by our 235-ton Super-Truck and its giant tires.  And if you're bringing your group from the Lower Mainland, make a day of it and visit nearby Shannon Falls and the Squamish Chief before you head back.
