An Underground Adventure tour sets the scene of the Britannia Story.  Explore seventy years of history of one of the world's largest copper mines, and one of BC's former, thriving resource communities.  Your Tour Guide will explain why this led to the area's environmental legacy before taking you to the EPCOR Britannia Mine Water Treatment Plant Discovery Centre where you can get hands-on with the science behind the reclamation project.

Walking Tunnel Double Tour

Want to get up close and personal with the environmental story?

A walking tour of the tunnel is a fascinating prequel to a visit to the Water Treatment Plant.  The recent mineralization on our tunnel walls has formed as a direct result of the acid-rock drainage.  From the stunning blues of chalcanthite, to the milky-white gypsum and the bacon-rind limonite, your group will see this natural process as it happens.  Some of our stalactites are only a year or so old, but are already about an inch long.  We also have gypsum growing on top of paint marks - where else can you see mineralization so recent?
